Book Review & Giveaway!

Sourcebooks, Inc recently asked me to do a book review and I was thrilled. The Entitlement-Free Child by Karen Deerwester is a wonderful book. It's premise is raising confident and responsible kids in a "me, mine, and now!" culture.

The Entitlement-Free Child gives parents practical and easy to incorporate techniques to everything from bickering siblings to teacher conflicts and social problems.

My Review:
One of the best techniques that I learned about is called "play". Play - Instead of taking kids shopping or to a movie for good behavior. Try planning a picnic and enjoying a park while asking the kids what they want to do for fun and what kind of day they had? You would be amazed at the fun you will have. The bonus: You are teaching your kids they can have fun without spending a lot. This is a wonderful lesson, especially in today's economic times.

Should You Buy?
If you ever thought - why can't my kids quit the constant "Its mine, I want it" whining? This book will help you put an end to stubbornness, disrespect and social problems by giving your child the resourcefulness to get what he/she needs and the confidence to respect the needs of others.

It's definitely worth a read for parents of all ages!

K-Mart Super Doubles Event 9/27 - 10/3 --- Update

Update on K-Mart Super Doubles Event:

This K-Mart Super Doubles event has been very confusing to us all! Today's paper has the ad showing K-Mart will double only Proctor & Gamble coupons ... but many bloggers are reporting that they are doubling all coupons (up to $2 - like before). One of my "thrifty" friends, Angela even shopped tonight at our local K-Mart and sure enough, the doubles were on anything up to $2.

So.... my advice is to still call your local K-Mart before going!

K-Mart Super Doubles Event - 9/27 - 10/3 ?

The K-Mart Super Doubles Event starts tomorrow, 9/27! Yay, that's the good news!

The bad news is that nobody seems to know the details of this event - even K-Mart.

The buzz around all of the blogs this week was that the event may only take P&G coupons, which would of course limit what products you may be able to buy with double coupons. When K-Mart was contacted, they seemed very clueless about the event altogether. My contact at K-Mart emailed me to say the event would take place and then when I contacted them by phone, they told me no event was scheduled at all. Duh!

The best thing to do is wait until Sunday, 9/27 and see what actually will happen in K-Mart. We'll post an update on Sunday so stay tuned! In the meantime, if you find out something, please leave us a comment so we can share with our readers.
