Homeschool Days at Colonial Williamsburg

Here's another great tidbit of information for our homeschooling parents, written by Ellen, a homeschooling mom of 3 who lives in Tennessee.

Homeschool Days at Colonial Williamsburg (Williamsburg, Virginia)

While I was researching a recent trip to Colonial Williamsburg (CW), I stumbled upon information for their upcoming homeschool event. I mentioned it to a friend and she told me tonight that her family has decided to go to for this event. I thought other homeschool families might also be interested in going to CW, so I decided to post this on Thrifty Divas.

The homeschool event at CW begins Saturday, Sept. 12th, and continues through Sept. 27th. The deadline for pre-purchased tickets has passed, but they welcome walk-ins. You may want to call the School and Youth Group Sales office at 1-800-280-8039 for more information.

The ticket prices you will pay for this event offer a HUGE savings!! Prices are $6.50 for one day, $9.00 for two days, and $12.00 for five days. The regular price is $46.00 for a one day adult ticket to CW. Whew, what a savings!

The fall homeschool program focuses on government and politics. There are meetings with a “Person of the Past” as well for homeschoolers. We heard George Washington speak. He even took questions from the audience! CW also recommends the Revolutionary City programs, as do I! During Revolutionary City programs, CW characters reenact important historical events such as my favorite, the reading of the Declaration of Independence.

If you’ve never been to CW, it is well worth your visit. Don’t forget to add Jamestown and Yorktown to your visit as well. As you know, they all fit together perfectly for your American history fieldtrip. A great starting point is the Colonial Williamsburg website at http://www.history.org/.
